As part of the BaltSe@nioR 2.0 project, a student- and senior-friendly open space is being created at the Faculty of Wood Technology of the Poznań University of Life Sciences. Due to the Natural University of the Third Age operating at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, it was decided that the newly created open space would be designed in accordance with the principles of universal design, and thus be accessible and comfortable for the widest possible group of users – not only students, but also seniors.
One of the essential elements that absolutely had to appear in this interior was, of course, wood. Wood evokes very positive emotions in both younger and slightly older users of the space, puts them in an optimistic mood, and makes the designed space warmer and more friendly.
In response to the requirements for the interior design of public institutions, Paged BirchPly class B-s1, d0. This was a hardwood, flame-retardant plywood, 15 mm thick, quality class I/II, characterized by high strength and a wide range of applications. It was manufactured by Paged, a company that values creative ideas and is open to any projects involving the use of this material. In combination with the colors of the upholstered furniture and carefully selected plants, a space was created that is an oasis of peace and relaxation.
The BaltSe@nioR 2.0 project combines the expertise of experts in the fields of furniture, design, information technology, robotics, economics, and social sciences from nine countries of the Baltic Sea Region: Poland, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Germany, Sweden, and Finland. Its aim is to show furniture manufacturers in the Baltic Sea region how to develop interesting business ideas that respond to the challenges of an aging society, while taking into account the requirements of public institutions.
