Morąg, 30 March 2026 – PAGED Plywood has for many years been developing cooperation with technical and artistic universities, working on innovations while also supporting young engineers and designers in exploring new applications of plywood. One of the Company’s key partners is the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where within the Experimental Wood Workshop led by Dr Paweł Jasiewicz, projects are carried out that combine design, technology and a conscious approach to material.
Dr Paweł Jasiewicz, a designer and artist, in his work with students places emphasis on experimentation, understanding the material and project work embedded in real technological constraints. In recent editions of the classes, students carried out projects of furniture and interior elements based on constructions without permanent joints, using Paged FreePly plywood, produced without the use of formaldehyde. The projects addressed contemporary challenges such as ease of assembly and disassembly, the possibility of reuse and material optimisation in the spirit of the circular economy.
In previous semesters, projects were created using Paged StringPly – an innovative plywood with unique aesthetic properties. As part of these activities, among others, lighting projects were developed in which the material became an integral element of form and expression. The development of these projects also took place in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology.
The results of cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw can currently be seen at the exhibition “Cooperations. Ecosystems of Responsibility” presented at the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw from 14 March to 7 April 2026. Another presentation of all student projects is planned for 20–25 June during the end-of-year exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
Paged Plywood also actively participates in industry and educational events. On 9 April, the company will take part in the Wooden Construction Days at Gdańsk University of Technology, where it will be present with a stand in the Hevelius Courtyard. One of the key programme points will be a lecture by Dr Eng. Ewelina Depczyńska entitled “Paged DryGuard FR – from idea to innovation on a global scale”, dedicated to the development of plywood combining resistance to moisture and fire. The lecture will take place at 14:40.
The continuation of educational activities will be a meeting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. On 24 April, from 11:45 to 13:15 (21 Syrokomli Street), Maria Perkowska from the Product Development Department of PAGED Plywood will deliver a lecture as part of the “Technologies” series, presenting, among others, the PAGED Plywood product portfolio as well as their applications and practical aspects of working with plywood as a material.
“The cooperation with PAGED Plywood brings benefits to both sides. Students gain the opportunity to learn about real production processes and to work with innovative materials developed in the Paged LabTech research and development centre. In turn, the company receives a fresh, design-oriented perspective on a well-known material such as plywood.”
“If we speak seriously about ESG, it does not end with environmental aspects – the social dimension is equally important, meaning investment in education and the development of competences of future designers and engineers. In practice, this means creating opportunities to work with the material, confronting concepts with the realities of production and access to knowledge developed within the industry. That is why we engage in lectures, workshops and cooperation with universities, and also invite students to our production plants and to Paged LabTech. It is this direct experience that allows understanding of material properties and their real applications.”
The cooperation of PAGED Plywood with universities and its presence at industry events constitute an element of the company’s long-term approach to developing competences in the field of wood-based materials. These activities include both knowledge transfer and practical understanding of material properties through working with PAGED Plywood products, visits to production facilities and to the Paged LabTech research and development centre.
